Established in 2010 as a foreign exchange Bank, BTPN Syariah aimed to make financial services accessible to underprivileged customers including pensioners, micro, small and medium business (MSMEs) owners, and the mass market to develop financial inclusion and enhance its footprint in the Indonesian market.
The current operating system of the Bank was limiting the Bank’s capability to support financial literacy and encourage low-income segments to utilize financial services as it was unable to develop new products or create efficient processes. The Bank required a modern architecture and a robust core system to transform its services and processes across its widespread network of 160 branches nationally to serve its 32k+ customers.
BTPN Syariah collaborated with NdcTech to implement the latest Temenos Transact Core Banking system, a top-notch and next-generation platform to modernize BTPN’s Islamic, Retail and Corporate Banking, enabling the Bank to make strides towards its vision.
During the implementation, several challenges arose such as offsite support from NdcTech was required due to the travel restrictions imposed during global pandemic. The culture, language, and regulatory policies of the country were different. Moreover, there were process gaps in the legacy system, and this was the first core modernization for the Bank.
NdcTech’s adopted a big bang approach coupled with its agile methodology and rich experience of transforming global Banks, equipping BTPN to go live successfully on the platform in the stipulated time.
With the latest Core Banking solution in place, the Bank is now able to enhance the internal controls, monitoring, and comply to the regulatory requirements. It has allowed the bank to improve customer onboarding and experience as the Bank is now able to launch innovative products quickly into the market for the rapid growth of its business.
Implementation of AA modules allows the Bank to develop customized products that can assist in creating meaningful experiences and interactions with clients. With ease in management of customer and products portfolio, the new platform assists in digitalizing the Bank to capture local as well as global market footprint.
BTPN is now well established to compete in the global banking industry, allowing it to scale exponentially, fueling the Bank’s next phase of growth, enterprise-wide.
